Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is used to help people reprocess traumatic memories that have been "stuck" since the time of the incident. When memories get stuck, the associated emotions, thoughts and sensations can continue to be disturbing long after the actual event is over.

Though researchers have not yet determined exactly how this happens, EMDR seems to allow the brain to "open up" the stuck memory. Once it is opened and accessible, the brain begins to process the experience-something it was unable to do at the time of the trauma. During processing, the brain brings important and useful information from the memory into perspective and discards the associated disturbance.

I use EMDR to treat birth trauma, childhood trauma, adult trauma and negative childhood beliefs.
