Every pregnancy is different, as they say. Some women report feeling excited, blissed out, maternal, connected to the baby, closer to their partner than ever, healthy, strong, and in awe. But not everyone feels that way. Other women talk about feeling sick, scared, resentful, burdened, anxious, not ready, not confident, disconnected or depressed. My work with pregnant women might be to stabilize moods, clear out ideas, feelings and beliefs that stand in the way of feeling more positive about their new baby or identifying risk factors for postpartum depression and creating plans to prevent or minimize the risk. Some women have experienced sexual, physical and/or emotional abuse in
their past. Research points to the dire importance of healing those experiences
prior to giving birth to minimize the way old trauma might impact the
birth and postpartum experience. If you would like to talk more about prenatal depression feel free to call me at 303-916-6929 or e-mail me (nancy@aparentconnection.com) to set up an appointment. |
